FSPA Adds New Pre-School Summer Arts Class
To its Summer 2002 Performing Arts Programs

FRANKLIN –The Franklin School for the Performing Arts is now accepting registrations for its Summer 2002 Programs in music, dance and drama including the debut of WEE PLAY, a new summer program for pre-school children, and the SummerStage 2002 student presentation of The Wiz, a funky musical twist to the classic tale of The Wizard of Oz.

WEE PLAY, an 8-week session of 1-hour classes for 2.5 - 4 year olds with an adult, will include instrument exploration, singing, movement, creative play, arts and crafts and storytime. The session will run from July 8 – August 29 instructed by Kim Rezendes.

SummerStage 2002, FSPA’s musical theatre program, offers classes in voice, acting, dance, set design and production, and will conclude with a performance of The Wiz at the end of the 5-week session on August 15 & 16. This program gives students in Grades 3 and an opportunity to be part of a production from start to finish. SummerStage classes are held for 3 hours a day, Monday - Thursday from July 15-August 15. All SummerStage students are cast in the show. Placement auditions will be on Saturday, May 18 at FSPA or by appointment. SummerStage 2002 faculty includes Raye Lynn Mercer, Rosemarie Boyden, Tracy Lane, Clyde Nantais, Nick Paone, Kim Rezendes and Hallie Wetzell. Previous SummerStage productions have included The Wizard of Oz, The Sound of Music, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, Bye Bye Birdie, Anything Goes, The Pirates of Penzance, Barnum and School House Rock-Live!

FSPA also offers a 1-week Children’s Arts Camp for ages 5-7 instructed by Tracy Bauer, Tracy Lane and Kim Rezendes. The camp incorporates activities in musical theater, creative movement and arts and crafts and will run July 8-12 and August 19-23 from 9:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. The Children’s Arts Camp is an excellent opportunity for young children to explore their creativity and develop skills in the performing arts.

FSPA’s summer dance program includes an 8-week session of classes in ballet, jazz, tap and modern for students of all levels. Summer dance faculty includes Tracy Bauer, Brandi Lochiatto, Stephanie Moy, Clyde Nantais and Kellie Stamp. FSPA also offers a 1-week intensive summer ballet program instructed by Stephanie Moy, August 19-23 from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., that emphasizes technique, repertoire and performance for advanced students.

The FSPA summer music program offers an 8-week session of private hour and half-hour lessons in voice, piano, guitar and percussion. Summer music faculty includes Nick Athanasiou, Linda Barbieri, Jessica Cooper, Kenny Hadley, David Howse, Kim Rezendes, Heather Wainwright and Hallie Wetzell. Since scheduling for private lessons is done in order of date of registration, students should register as soon as possible.
