MARIA-REGINA SEIDLHOFER Music Department Artistic Advisor Born in San Paulo, Brazil and began her early studies with Dinora de Carvalho; began concertizing at the age of six, giving solo recitals and making feature performances with orchestra; studied at the Academy of Music in Vienna , 1961-66, with Bruno Seidlhofer whom she later married; received a Diploma Speciale from the Minister of Education in Austria; first U.S. appearances included performances at Boston University and the New England Conservatory; gave a concert in Washington, D.C. at the invitation of the Organization of American States in 1988; locally performed at FSPA, the Walnut Hill School for the Arts and Dartmouth College; has been on the Piano faculty at the Academy of Music in Vienna since 1976; travels extensively teaching Master Courses in Finland, Germany, Italy, Malta, Brazil and the United States and was decorated by the Ambassador of Brazil for outstanding service abroad; toured the Far East and conducted Master Classes; visits the Franklin School for the Performing Arts frequently giving Master Classes to students and faculty and offering her continued guidance as Artistic Advisor. NICK ATHANASIOUGuitar B.M. in Jazz Performance (New England Conservatory); awarded First Prize/Scholarships - Epirotic Society, AHEPA, and Young Performance Competition (NEC); teaching experience includes guitar and bass improvisation and theory instruction, arranging, and composition; performance experience throughout New England includes Jordan Hall, The Above Club, The Choppin' Block, Wally's Cafe, and Framnas Folkhogskolla; member of Nick Athansious 4tet, China Jackson Sextet, and Dejona Jazz, principal teachers include Charlie Banacos, Jerry Bergonzi, Mick Goodrick and John Abercrombie. JESSICA COOPERVoice B.M. in Vocal Performance with distinction in major (San Diego State University); M.M. in Opera / Vocal Performance with distinction and honors (New England Conservatory); performed with Boston Symphony Hall in Handel & Haydn; teaching experience includes vocal classes at Christian Community Church in Somerville and private lessons to local students of varying ages; awarded 1st Place in La Jolla Young Artists Competition, 2nd Place in NATS Compeition, and 1st Place in Concerto Competitions (New England Conservatory and San Diego University); principal instructors include Helen Hodam, Susan Clickner and Mary Mackenzie.
KENNY HADLEY Extensive teaching experience; Milton After-School Program (1987 - present), DiScenso's Drum Shop (1985 - present), numerous teaching clinics and master classes throughout New England; playing experience includes European and South American tours with Johnny Adams, performances with Van Morrison, Dizzy Gillespie, The Count Basie Orchestra, Peter Wolf, The Drifters, Rebecca Parris, FSPA Youth Choir, FSPA and FPAC productions, the North Shore Music Theater productions of Tommy and Hair. TRACY LANE B.A. Theater Education (Emerson College); certified Kindermusik instructor, studied voice at Emerson College; extensive study of Dance; taught English and Drama and directed school musicals at Hingham Junior High; Tracy joined FSPA/FPAC in 1995 and has served as co-director/producer for many FSPA/FPAC productions. RAYE LYNN MERCERPiano B.A. cum laude (Middlebury College); Studied at Vienna International Music Center and with Maria-Regina Seidlhofer, Diana Fanning, Gabriel Chodos, Yoriko Takahashi, Guiseppe deLellis; Owner/director - Franklin School for the Performing Arts. SCOTT NICHOLASPiano/Voice M.M. in Collaborative Piano (New England Conservatory); currently on faculty at Emerson College and Boston Conservatory of Music; recital and master class accompanist throughout the Boston area; performing experience includes appearance at Carnegie Hall; fifteen years of teaching experience throughout Massachusetts and New Jersey; primary instructors include Margo Garrett and Irma Vallecio. MARK PONIATOWSKI B.M. (Berklee College of Music); M.M. (New England Conservatory); extensive performing experience including Bruce Katz Band, Kenny Hadley Big Band, Soul Kitchen, and Yukie Aramos Trio, toured and performed with the FSPA Youth Choir in Austria (1998); recordings include Mississippi Moan, Something Like That, Its About the Blues, Radio Fusion Radio, and More Than Live; instructors include Cecil McBee, John Clayton Jr., John Repucci, and Whit Brown; affiliated with the International Society of Bassists. ANDREA RASHVoice B.A. cum laude in Vocal Performance and Music Education (Duke University); Master of Music in Choral Conducting (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign); co-founder and director of Voices Rising; member of National Association of Teachers of Singing, Early Music America, American Choral Directors Association, and Pi Kappa Lambda (music honor society); has maintained private voice studio since 1992; extensive experience as a church musician and choral director. STACY RECKERT Oboe, Flute, Saxophone B.A. in Music (Ithaca College); served as Intern at Croydon Music Service in London, England; experience teaching private and group instrumental lessons to students of all ages and is currently working as a part-time substitute in the public school system; awarded the David H. Laub Memorial Scholarship.
