Goal: This is a preparatory Jazz class for 6 and 7 year olds. Simple Jazz movements that children can execute easily are taught following warm-up, stretching and isolations. Emphasis is placed on rhythm as well as basic technique and an introduction to Jazz music. Jazz I Goal: Jazz I is designed for 7-9 year old students with at least one year of Pre-Ballet or Jazz. The one-hour class begins with a slow warm-up and stretching. Jazz vocabulary is expanded. Students learn varied movement combinations.Jazz II Goal: A challenging jazz class for 8-11 year olds, stressing technique, dance vocabulary and a variety of musical styles.Jazz III Goal: A challenging jazz class for young teens. Emphasis is placed on body placement, stretch, rhythm and musicality.Teen Jazz Goal: A jazz class for students grades 7 and up or by evaluation with little or no dance experience. This class will emphasize basic Jazz steps, Jazz vocabulary, body placement, stretch, rhythm and musicality. Advanced Teen Jazz Goal: A challenging jazz class for students grades 5-8 with previous dance experience. The class will emphasize expanded Jazz vocabulary, body placement, stretch, rhythm and musicality. Jazz IV Goal: This class is more demanding technically and the class moves at a fast pace. Music used is more challenging. Attention is paid to the quality of movement in addition to correct execution. The students dance artistry is developed. Ballet class required.Jazz V Goal: Development of the schools most advanced jazz dancers will be pursued in Jazz V. Placement by invitation or audition only. Ballet class is required. This class is 90 minutes. Hip Hop Goal: Hip Hop focuses on dynamics, energy, tricky rhythms and stage presence. Derived from jazz and funk dance styles, the fast-paced street dance moves of today's music videos keep you dancing to the music of your favorite pop stars. Level I
